The City of Munich will primarily act as the overall project co-ordinator and serve as the direct contact to the European Commission. Munich's experiences in applying environmental management information systems for environmental planning and management will be utilised for technology transfers related to spatial planning tools.
The administrations of Batticaloa Municipal Council and Kalmunai Municipal Council will integrate the participatory planning approaches for strategy development and implementation of infrastructure projects. They will demonstrate the new planning culture with the pilot applications of this project.
EMAS International will be concerned with the establishment of the vocational training centre, develop and conduct training of trainer courses and initiate well drilling in selected settlements.
The Sri Lanka activities receive technical and logistical support through a team of national professionals who are replicating urban environmental planning and management through the Urban Governance Support Programme. This team will ensure the links to the national and international institutions.
